Kinz cash farming
During lunch at the cafe near the green the boy asked me if the settlers used moss for direction finding. So we spent an hour on the green looking at trees and determined that, no, moss does not grow only on the north side of the trees on the green.
We decided that today we’d walk in the woods and continue the experiment there. We never got around to it.
This morning he woke up earlier than usual, and I went to bed later than usual. I finally dragged myself out of bed and gave him some cereal. Then he wanted to play with his Webkinz.
A Webkinz is a stuffed animal, very much like a Beanie Baby (I think they’re made by the same company). The hook is that each toy comes with an access code that lets you create a virtual version of your pet on the Webkinz site. By playing games and answering quizes, you can earn “Kinz cash.” The boy has three rooms for his pets, but he really wanted a backyard. That costs 1000 Kinz dollars. So I played a couple of games for him to raise his balance. Big mistake.
This morning he wanted me to keep doing it. Now I know how those gold farmers who play World of Warcraft feel. When I said, “No, sweetie. You need to finish earning the money yourself,” he threw one of his old fashioned fits. He packed up all his toys from his room ino a box and told me he was never coming back to my house.
I told him I’d miss him and that he was always welcome back here.
