Back to school

The boy goes back to school Wednesday.

It’s amazing how much he’s grown this summer. It seems like all of the sudden he can have conversations. He talks about things, makes connections, goes back to things. When he gets upset he knows he’s upset – that’s new. He can talk about being angry while he’s angry.

He’s lost his two front teeth. At last. He was concerned because all of the other boys in his cohort have lost theirs.

He told me that the Tooth Fairy left him $5 for each tooth. He doesn’t believe in God. But the Tooth Fairy leaves tangible proof of her existence.
